L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace won a $302 million contract with the U.S. Navy for logistics services support, Sputnik News reported.
The contract involves logistics support for the C-12 Huron utility lift aircraft and the US Navy TC-12B trainer aircraft. Duties will include full aircraft maintenance, logistics support, materials and post-production, the source noted.
The C-12 series of aircraft is used for medical evacuation, humanitarian rescue, embassy support, range clearance and cargo transport, according to UPI.
Five offers were received for the contract, which was competitively bid. The work will be carried out in the U.S. in Maryland, Texas, South Carolina, Louisiana, North Carolina, Arizona, California and Virginia, noted UPI. Work will also be done in Japan, Cuba and Bahrain. The logistics support duties are expected to be completed in 2021.
L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace is headquartered in Madison, Mississippi, and is a division of L-3 Integrated Systems Group which employs more than 23,000 people. The company creates special purpose airborne systems and advanced avionics for commercial and government customers, with a focus on modernizing cockpit avionics and intelligence-gathering systems.
